There are many variations of animal like characters in anime and manga. This tutorial will focus on drawing a wolf like female anime character.
If you are going to be following this tutorial using pencil and paper be sure to draw light lines that you can easily erase. You will need to do so as you go through the various steps.

First make a vertical line line through the middle of your drawing area to help you make sure that both sides of the head/neck/shoulders are equal in width.

You can draw the head by first making a rough circle for it’s top and then projecting the lower portion of the face down from that.
Draw the ears fairly long as a large part of them will be covered by the hair in later steps. Make the overall shape of the ears curve outwards from the head and then back towards one another.
Place the facial features as shown in the above example. The proportions used are the same as for most other tutorials here on .

Draw the eyes just below the the horizontal halfway point of the head. Make the pupils round and with the inner ends of the top eyelids slightly lowered. Draw the top of the pupils slightly covered by the top eyelids and leave some space between them and the bottom eyelids.
Draw the nose to one side of the vertical halfway line of the face. Really you are just drawing the outline of the shadow on the side of the nose.
Position the mouth with the bottom lip between the nose and the chin and draw the mouth itself slightly above it in a fairly wide smile. This is optional depending on the kind of character you want but if you look at photos of real wolves their mouths often have a sort of smile like shape. Like the nose the bottom lip will really be just an outline of a shadow this time cast on the chin.

To make the drawing process a bit easier to understand you can break the hair down into three parts. The front (red), sides (green) and back (blue).
To make the ears look a little more interesting and wolf like add some fur/fluff sticking out of them. Draw the fur in random sized clumps pointing in slightly different directions.
At this stage you should have a pretty much finished basic outline of the character so you can move on to some of the smaller details.

Finally add a few lines to the eyebrows to give a hint of their individual hairs. This will again make the character appear a little more like a wolf by making the eyebrows look more like fur.
To finish the line drawing add the collar bones and a hint of the clothes. In this case the clothes will be lined with fur to again emphasize the wolf like character.

To draw this fur you can pretty much outline it with a set of random zigzags. Try and draw these with some light curves.

You can color the character with whatever colors you prefer but for this example we will go with grey for the ears and a blue (with a bit of grey in it) for the hair/eyes/eyebrows.
Wolves are often grey in color and tend to be associated with winter snow covered woods, the blue hair color will help emphasize this.
If coloring on paper leave the highlight in the hair (shown in the next step) white and fill the rest of the hair and eyebrow with one solid color. If coloring digitally you can add the highlights in afterwards.
Easy Wolf Drawing Ideas
To finish the drawing add some basic shadow in places where they are most likely to be. You can also add some grey inside the ear fluff to act as both shadows and color patterns of the fur.
The focus of this tutorial was on creating a wolf like anime looking female character by giving her some wolf like characteristics. Of course there are nearly countless other ways to draw a wolf girls. Some anime and manga characters are simply given wolf or other animal ears and have no other features that resemble a wolf while other are drawn with more animal like features. So this is generally two types of basic styles you can start developing. I see tons of wolf art with the classic normal and well detailed wolf, and the anime - mute type style. Style 2 is easily more fitting for a cutesy or serene anime environment, while the Style 1 fits for a semi-realistic anime environment. It's best to experiment with various styles to develop one of your own. It's like science for art! more

Now, here' are ways you can draw your wolf. I'm sure lots of you wolf fans have seen the varieties of wolf shapes/sizes on the net. We have 1. being the normal semi-realistic version of a wolf; having well proportioned paws and a nice toned build. The fur is distributed throughout the body evenly. 2. Is a very fluffed wolf with less of a facial expression to suit the style appropriately. There is lots more fur making the body appear to be thicker yet we still have the toned fur detailing around the muscle elements. This is where referencing the muscles and bones of wolf comes in! 3. We have the skinny and exaggerated paws. I've also seen a style where the paws are lightly detailed with simple dividends for definition of paw toes. Notice how this wolf is thin and reveals no mouth. more

These are loose styles based among the various. Like I've stated before, experimenting with different shapes of faces and bodies could morph into a style you may find unique and fitting. 1. Is a generic yet classic wolf face that would again, fit for a cutesy style. 2. Is a chibi puppy version of 1. but perfect for a pet of a chibi character. 3. Is a realistic and majestic head which is best for serious animes (Wolf's Rain). The more angular and detailed a character, the more intense and dramatic the scene/style. Lastly, 4, another style that features a slight Disney styled appearance. Mix and match, people! more
When you want to transform an adult wolf into a puppy, take the key traits from an adult and make certain areas bigger or smaller. For instance, a puppy will have larger undeveloped ears. The snout will be much shorter and the eyes majorly enlarged. As with the adult, we have smaller ears and a longer snout. more
Ok, on with the tutorial, peeps! Let's start with the essential guidelines for the wolf, creating a small circle for the head, large circle for the chest, and an oval for the hindquarters. Though drawing these guidelines perfectly aren't entirely necessary, it is still advised to result with a similar figure presented in this tut. more

Now, carefully, we'll keep distance with our guidelines and draw the forehead FIRST, then channel our way downwards to the snout. A wolf's snout is boxy and longer than a normal dog's. It slants inwards and forms the chin later on. Now, the cheeks should be VERY fluffy and you don't see any hit of muscle tone on the face because wolves have furry faces. The ears should also point opposite to one another on either side. more
Then, we shall work on the facials. The eye shouldn't be drawn no further than the middle of the dipping point of the forehead. Keep the nose small, avoid creating it swallowing a huge portion of the snout. The mouth should be drawn with a slight indent which then ends at the outer corner of the eye. more

Slowly progressing onto the neck, we will draw the back first, creating an outward mound which will then form into the shoulder. The front of the chest/neck should be sketched in with light and fluffed detailing lines. Try not to make too many jagged fur definitions since it will make the wolf look scrawny and bristle. You want thin and long strokes of fur. more

Ok, this may seem hard at first, but it isn't! Let's work on the first foreleg which starts thick, adjacent to the shoulder we drew before, and tapers downwards into the paws. When we draw the paws, we'll want to start with one outlining shape first and THEN the individual dividends of paw toes. more
Then, let's keep distant around the guides and draw the stomach and eventually, the hind-leg. I start at the knee first and then the hocks. Notice how the thigh is fluffed. We don't want to add to much fluff to the paws and hocks!
Then, nearly finishing, we'll draw the back and then the tail. The tail should have subtle wafts of fur detailing to make it pop. We don't want to detail the tail to much because it wouldn't fit within the style.

To finish the wolf, we'll draw the last leg. Repeat the process and techniques discussed in the previous step. Also, try matching up the every
