Is Elden Ring Cross Platform, Crossplay Or Cross Progression?
Unfortunately, Elden Ring does currently not support crossplay (at least not in the classical understanding; you can play together on different console generations, more on that further below). That is a real shame because we love the multiplayer, and we love playing this amazing game with our friends. Sure, Elden Ring is primarily a single player game, and that is how you should experience most of the game. But it can get lonely out there, you know? Having a friend by your side is not just super fun, it can also make some of the toughbosses like Malenia a lot easier.
It's unlikely that From Software will integrate crossplay later, since the company hasn't said anything about it at all. But we don't know yet, so they might surprise us in the future! I personally wouldn't hold out hope on it, since the Dark Souls games, as well as Bloodborne, never had crossplay features implemented in the games, not even in post-launch patches. But Elden Ring is already the most successful game in the company's history, so maybe they will go back to this later and add crossplay later down the line with a patch!
But for the moment: No, if you're on PlayStation you can't play with your friends on Xbox or PC and vice versa. However, Elden Ring does support Cross-Gen play. We'll show you what that means.

Cross-Gen is a special form of crossplay, limited to a certain console series. It means that you can play with other players who have the same family of consoles, so Xbox One can play with Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 4 can play with PlayStation 5. Leider nein, Elden Ring hat kein Crossplay. Das ist verdammt schade, wir lieben den Multiplayer nämlich wirklich und würden gerne mit all unseren Freunden zusammen zocken. Ja, Elden Ring ist in erster Linie ein Einzelspielerspiel, und so sollte man auch den größten Teil des Spiels erleben. Aber ab und zu kann es auch mal echt einsam werden und die Bosse sind teilweise auch ganz schön heftig... Da wäre es schon nett, sich einfach ein paar Kumpels rufen zu können.

Cross-Gen bedeutet, dass ihr mit anderen Spielern spielen könnt, die auf einer älteren oder neueren Version derselben Konsole wie ihr spielen. Ihr könnt also auf Xbox One mit Xbox Series X|S und auf PlayStation 4 mit PlayStation 5 spielen. Und ja, das funktioniert auch in Elden Ring. Ihr seid also nicht völlig allein, wenn ihr Elden Ring spielt und habt zumindest ein paar Optionen. Es sei denn, ihr seid auf dem PC... Sorry, Leute, ihr seid auf euch allein gestellt. Aber keine Sorge, wenn man den neuesten Zahlen glauben kann, spielen in Europa mit 44 % fast die Hälfte aller Spieler Elden Ring auf dem PC, ihr solltet also ausreichend Mitspieler finden.
Wahrscheinlich nicht, denn From Software hat sich noch nicht dazu geäußert. Wir können es aber noch nicht komplett ausschließen, vielleicht werden wir ja noch überrascht. Ich persönlich würde mir da aber keine allzu großen Hoffnungen machen, da die Dark Souls-Spiele und auch Bloodborne nie Crossplay unterstützt haben und auch nicht später bekommen haben. Aber Elden Ring ist schon jetzt das erfolgreichste Spiel in der Geschichte des Unternehmens, also könnte es durchaus sein, dass From Software es sich hier noch einmal überlegt...
Elden Ring Crossplay: Gibt Es Ein Multiplayer Feature?
Der Multiplayer funktioniert ähnlich wie in den Dark Souls-Spielen, d. h. Spieler können von anderen Spielern durch Zeichen, die sie im Spiel hinterlassen, herbeigerufen werden. Spieler können auch in andere Spiele wechseln, um andere Spieler zu überfallen und ein wenig PvP-Action zu erleben. Der große Unterschied zu den Dark Souls-Spielen ist, dass man keinerlei Voraussetzungen braucht, um im Multiplayer zu spielen. Das bedeutet, dass wir zwar immer noch bestimmte Verbrauchsgegenstände benötigen, die können wir in Elden Ring aber selbst in Massen herstellen. Man braucht keine Menschlichkeit oder Glut mehr, wie in Dark Souls 1 bzw. 3. Das ist eine großartige Änderung, die den Mehrspielermodus deutlich zugänglicher und einfacher zu nutzen macht. Darum ist es umso bedauerlicher, dass wir bisher kein Crossplay bekommen, aber sei's drum, Elden Ring ist trotzdem ein verdammt gutes Spiel!
